How to Rent Our Space

The Eclectic House is the largest student-run space on campus and is free for student groups to use. If you would like to use our space, you will need to send a host-trained representative to one of our meetings, located on the third floor of 200 High St. every Sunday night at 10pm, to request a date. Eclectic will not consider requests that give the house less than ten days notice; please make your request two or three Sundays prior to the event.

To improve your chances of getting a date approved, you or your group's representative should be able to tell us: 1) At least two dates that you could hold the event (see our calendar for available dates), 2) as much detail as possible about how the event will be run (is it free, will you sell tickets beforehand, are there any co-sponsors, what phase is it), 3) Why you want to use Eclectic specifically (have you looked at other venues, why won't other places on campus work).

PLEASE NOTE! The Eclectic House at 200 High St is, first and foremost, a residential program house, and the residents of the house need peace and quiet. To that end, Eclectic generally does not approve requests for plays/film shootings in our house or requests for late-night parties (parties that end after 2am). Even if the date you request is available, our residents may reject your proposal, because there are already too many events that weekend/month, or because that particular night they want quiet. While the Eclectic House is a wonderful space to socialize, it needs to remain a wonderful place to live, so please respect our discretion in denying requests: WE ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD REASON.

Getting a date held for your group is only one step in the process; keep in mind that your event will not be approved until Eclectic has recieved a completed copy of our Event Contract and a copy of the Social Event Registration form. Paper copies of the Eclectic Contract are available in our WSA mailbox and paper copies of the Social Event form are available from the WSA, Public Safety, the Office of Residential Life, and the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development. You may download the Eclectic Contract here and the Social Event Policy is available for download at http://www.wesleyan.edu/stuact/program_planning/Social_Event_Planning.htt
